ENVIRONMENTAL DUE DILIGENCE GUIDELINES FOR PURCHASES OF BRAZILIAN PRODUCTS BY THE EUROPEAN UNION ACCORDING TO REGULATION (EU) Nº. 1115/2023

The BRAZILIAN ASSOCIATION OF MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF THE ENVIRONMENT (ABRAMPA), a civil entity that brings together members of the Brazilian Public Prosecution Service working in the legal defense of the environment and urban planning, registered under the Corporate Taxpayer’s Registry (CNPJ) No. 02.322.438/0001-11, with headquarters at Rua Araguari, 1795, Santo Agostinho, Belo Horizonte/MG – CEP 30.190-111, and the COMMITTEE ON THE ENVIRONMENT (CMA), a body of the NATIONAL COUNCIL OF THE BRAZILIAN PUBLIC PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE (CNMP), established by the Resolution No. 145/2016 and made permanent by Amendment to the Rules of Procedure No. 20/2019, in the exercise of the powers provided for in Article 130-A, paragraph 2, item I, of the Federal Constitution and in Article 30, caput, of the Internal Regulations of the National Council of the Brazilian Public Prosecutor’s Office, in compliance with its institutional objectives, through this document, present its contributions regarding the environmental due diligence measures that must be employed in the purchase of Brazilian products by the European Union (EU) for full adherence to the Regulation (EU) No. 2023/1115, in particular with regard to non-compliance with Brazilian legislation concerning the protection of native vegetation.
